At the beginning of the computer era, coding was a difficult thing but data was simple. Fewer people used computers and there were fewer requirements. In old computers, databases were used to store words and numbers but it all changed after the birth of the internet, computers started getting popular and data started becoming complex, old databases were not designed for large numbers of people and for complex data types like images, videos, and files.

To handle new types of data and provide data to users fast as possible, companies developed new types of databases which increase the speed of data transfers between users and applications. Each database was designed and developed according to the company's requirements, here are some of them you should know about before going deep into each of them.

Types of databases:

  • Centralized database
  • Distributed database
  • Relational database
  • Document oriented database
  • Object-oriented database
  • Hierarchy database
  • Network database
  • Cloud database
  • Personal database
  • Commercial database

These are some common types of databases that are used by most companies, I would highly suggest you read basic details about them since lots of questions get asked during job interviews and exams.
